Obituary of John A. Misa

John Anthony Misa, 63, was born on December 29, 1954 in West New York, NJ where he grew up until he attended the University of Nebraska. On March 8, 2018, he succumbed to colon and liver cancer at home surrounded by his family.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Karolyn Misa (nee Tynan), by his loving daughters,  Analyssa Misa Perryman and her husband, Christian, Katrina Misa Ciappina and her husband, Leo and Samantha Misa and her boyfriend, Jose Carvalho, by his cherised grandson, CJ, by his dear mother, Mary Misa and recently deceased father John.  Also survived by his sisters,  Karen Fitzpatrick and her husband, Kevin, Michelle Estrella and her husband, Ivan and cousin,  Anna Marie Monica and her family, many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and the Verminones. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

John was employed as a courier for Spectra Labs in Piermont, NJ for the last 8 years. Prior to being a courier, John was a successful owner and operator of The Smoke Stack, a cigar shop and lounge in Hackensack, NJ for 11 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast and dedicated New York Giants and New York Mets fan. All enjoyed his annual March Madness event. John entertained every holiday enhanced by his eclectic palate and love of cooking. He was knowledgeable of all genres of music based on his collection of over 5,000 albums and 3,000 cd’s. John was always there to help friends whether it was to lend a helping hand, home design, or to simply make them laugh.  His wife and daughters would like to deeply thank all of those who helped over the past several months as his illness progressed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2-6PM. All will gather at the funeral home on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 9AM, then to Sacred Heart Church, Where at 10AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Cremation Private.
