1925-2023
Louise (Orangio) Gimmi, 97, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023. She had been a resident of Lyndhurst for the past 70 years. Louise will be remembered by everyone as a true lady, daughter, mother, grandmother, GiGi (great-grandmother), sister, wife, and friend. Every role was lived to the fullest with the most love, generosity, and joy. The daughter of Ellis Island Italian immigrants, Guido and Mary Orangio, she was one of ten siblings.
She spent her childhood in Jersey City, NJ graduating from Dickinson High School, class of 1943. She waited for the “love of her life”, Vincent J. Gimmi through World War II and married him upon his return on May 3, 1947. They remained together for the next 48 years until Vincent’s death in 1995. One of their happiest times was their move to the suburbs in the early 1950’s from Jersey City to provide for a better life for their two young beautiful daughters.
Louise was an Avon representative for 60 years along with her working as a sales representative at Elizabeth’s Garden in Rutherford for 12 years. She was a member of the AARP club, Mount Carmel Seniors, St. Michael’s Rosary Society, and the Lyndhurst Friendship Club.
Sunday dinners and parties at the pool were her favorite things to do at the Gimmi household over the many years.
