Obituary of Mary Juliette Duca
Mary Juliette Duca (nee Grady), 87, known by all as Julie, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 20, 2025. A lifelong New Jersey resident, Julie was born and raised in Lyndhurst and lovingly raised her family in Middletown. Later in life, she moved to Livingston, where she built a fulfilling career, and eventually retired to Brigantine, where she enjoyed the peaceful serenity of the Jersey Shore.
Julie began her career as a secretary at Harmony Elementary School in Middletown, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to education and service. Upon relocating to Livingston, she joined the Livingston Board of Education as an administrative assistant with the Special Services department. Julie was immensely proud of her professional achievements, but her true joy came from her family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she took great pride in hosting family holidays, cherishing the importance of family traditions, and filling her home with love. These gatherings often included fun activities, games, and musical performances which will forever be remembered as a testament to the family's love and Julie’s caring spirit.
Julie was also actively involved in her community. She volunteered at St. Mary’s Church for the Altar Rosary Society, served as the President of the Parent Teacher Organization at Harmony Elementary School, and was a dedicated leader of the Middletown North High School Marching Band Booster Club. She was also deeply committed to supporting her children's education and extracurricular activities, ensuring they had every opportunity to grow and succeed. Her unwavering support and encouragement shaped the lives of her children and were a testament to her dedication as a mother.
Julie leaves behind a loving legacy that will live on in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Daniel Duca; her cherished children, Dr. Daniel Duca, Jr., Christopher Duca, and Theresa Scott (husband Brian); and her adoring grandchildren, Jack, Katie, Meredith, Paige, Michael, Sabrina, Brendan, Olivia, Nolan, and Hailey. She was predeceased by her dear siblings, Patricia Regan, James Grady, and John Grady.
