Obituary of Pilar Ramos

Pilar Ramos (nee Méndez), 92, of Lyndhurst, died on Sunday, March 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Pilar was born in Havana Cuba, where she met her future husband, Ramón Ramos Sr. They came to the states in 1956, married and eventually settled in Lyndhurst where she lived for more than 30 years.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ramón Ramos Sr. in 1991.  She is survived by her loving children, Ramon Ramos Jr. and his wife Iris, Mildred Ramos and son-in-law José Hernández, Alex Ramos and his wife Esther, and Richard Ramos Sr. and his wife Diana, and by her dear grandchildren, Jessica Cabal, Raymond Ramos, Nicole and Joseph Hernández, Richard Ramos Jr. and Alexandra Ramos, by her great grandchildren, Chloe, Carter, Anastasia and Maximiliano, and niece Yvonne Enríquez.  She is also survived by her sister, Milagros Méndez, many nieces and nephews and family, both here and in Cuba. 

Her loved ones would say Pilar took on one of the most important jobs in society: to raise, love and nurture her children and family.  Though life presented her with many challenges, her Catholic faith fueled her undeniable inner strength and character.  She attended Sunday Mass regularly at Sacred Heart Parish in Lyndhurst and prayer was a significant part of her daily routine.  This enabled her to persevere and keep her focus on her family.  Another way Pilar showed her love was by preparing terrific Cuban dishes, such as lechón, frijoles negros and the like, but could also put together a pretty mean Italian lasagna!  While her absence leaves us heartbroken, Pilar gifts us a lifetime full of memories.  We will miss her dearly but are consoled by the belief that she is finally within God's loving embrace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home Inc, 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Thursday, April 3, 2025 beginning at 11AM.  Then to Sacred Heart Church, where at 1PM, a funeral mass will be offered.  Interment to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  You may express condolences to her family by using our tribute wall.
