Obituary of Mary Ellen Mango

Mary Ellen Mango (nee DeMarco), 74, died on Friday, April 4, 2025.  Mrs. Mango was a lifelong resident of Lyndhurst, proud to have lived her entire life on Mountain Way.  Mary Ellen was the co-owner of Lion Extruding Corporation from 1991 - 2021 but her true calling in life was as a loving homemaker for her family.  A devoted daughter, she was the sole caretaker of her parents in their later years, the late Albert (2004) and Mary (nee Settembrino) (2012) DeMarco.  She loved all things history related and relished in the time she got to spend with her immediate family.  It never mattered to Mary Ellen what the occasion was, as long as her family was together, although she thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of the fall season into Christmas time.   Christmas was a happy time of year for Mary Ellen.  She loved planning the Christmas gatherings and elegantly decorating her home.  Her organization and direction lovingly earned her the nickname, "the general" from her son, David.  She also enjoyed spending time in Hope, NJ, often taking weekend trips there.  

Mary Ellen is survived by her beloved companion of 34 years, Fred Werdann, by her loving son, David Mango and his wife, Kelly, by her cherished granddaughter, Savannah, and by her dear brothers, Carl and Gary DeMarco. She was predeceased by her brother, Albert DeMarco, Jr. (1985).  Her two dogs, Misty and Corona, will always have a special place in her heart.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 12 - 12:45 PM.  A funeral mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst at 1 PM.  Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.  You may express your condolences to Mary Ellen's family by using our tribute wall.
