Rose Violante Obituary

Rosina (Rose) Violante (nee Roseti), 93, died on Saturday, June 7, 2025.  Rose was always proud to tell people she was born in Harlem, NY.  She was raised in Astoria, Queens and when she met Joseph Violante through cousins on both sides, they fell in love and married in 1951. She relocated to Lyndhurst (where Joseph was from) and has lived on the same street since her marriage. They lived in an apartment in his grandparents house and he built the house down the block where they raised their family. Rose worked for many years at Vanity Optical which was located by Washington School where her daughters went.  She also worked at NCCI that was located in the Lyndhurst Meadowlands. She made many friends along the way who remained in touch even after she retired in 1986.   Rose was an avid Mets fan and loved attending games with her family.  Her favorite player was Mike Piazza.  She was a devout Catholic and loved her parish family of Mount Carmel Church and her pastor, Father Ernie. She was also a member of the Mount Carmel Seniors, past president and member of the Kingsland Lyndhurst AARP Chapter and a former member of the Red Hat Ladies.   She was a vibrant part of her community and her family, only until recently, when Alzheimer’s progressed too much for her.  Her smile, kindness and big heart will be missed by her dear family and all who knew her.

Rose is predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph Violante who passed in 2009 and her granddaughter, Kristine Violante in 2023.  She is also predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Maria Roseti and her sisters Loretta Valenti and Concetta Fontana. She is survived by her loving daughters, Constance Violante, Marie Tooma,  son-in-law Bill, and Marilyn Jones & her husband, Robert, by her dear grandchildren, Billy Tooma and his wife Maggie, Brian Jones and his girlfriend Kelly, Melissa Kearney & her husband, Corey and two great granddaughters, Lia and Rose. She is also survived by her sister Anna Berberich, her brother Joseph Roseti and many extended family and friends.
