Valentine McHale, Sr., aged 84, passed away peacefully at his home with his cherished wife by his side on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Born in Crossmolina, County Mayo, Ireland, Val embarked on a journey to the United States at the age of 19, settling in Jersey City. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Mary Moran. Together, they established their home in Lyndhurst, where they have lived ever since. 

Val dedicated 40 years of his career to Verizon as a Network Technician before retiring in 2002. Known for his tireless work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, Val was a devoted family man who held a deep pride for his native Ireland while also embracing and loving America for the opportunities it afforded him and his family.

An outdoors enthusiast, Val found joy in nature and was well-loved by those fortunate to know him. Described as kind, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand, he left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Michael, Thomas, Vincent , Kathleen and Josphine McHale ,  and Teresa Mulkeen  and by his daughter, Diedre McHale.  Val is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary (née Moran); his loving sons, Valentine Jr. and his wife, Melissa; Michael McHale; Brendan McHale & his wife, Lisa; and Terence and his wife, Heather He was a proud grandfather to his 10 dear grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Victoria, Luke, Davan, Leah, Sofie, Caitlin, Lily, and Riley. Val is also survived by his brother, Patrick McHale, and his sister, Imelda McHale.

Valentine McHale, Sr., will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 3 PM - 7 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 9 AM then to Sacred Heart Church where at 10 AM, a funeral mass will be celebrated.  Entombment to follow, Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.  You may express condolences to Val's family by using our tribute wall.
