John J. Ross Obituary

John "Jack" Ross, 78, died on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.  Jack, as he was known by many, was born and raised in Jersey City before moving to Moonachie in 1975 to raise his family.  He lived in Little Egg Harbor for the past 3 years.  He worked as truck driver, and after 60 years behind the wheel, retired in 2022.  His work ethic, defined by his often 18-hour days, six days a week schedule, was a testament to the kind of man Jack was, steady and dependable.  He will always be remembered for lending a helping hand to anyone in need.

When he wasn't on the road, Jack found joy in watching cowboy movies, black and white movies, and in his younger years, fishing.  He could always be counted on to tell a classic "bad" dad joke, the kind that made his family roll their eyes and laugh anyway because it was Jack telling it.  He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lucille Ross (nee Silerto), by their loving children, Jennifer Koppenal & her husband, Keith and John Ross (Daiva Pleikiene), by his cherished grandchildren, Paiton, Garrett, and Liam, by his dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Geri Silerto, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 4 - 8 PM.  A funeral service will begin at 7:30 PM.  Cremation will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Bayada Hospice, 10 Allen Street, Suite 1A, Toms River, NJ 08753.  You may express your condolences to Jack's family by using our tribute wall.
