Mary Malkowski Obituary

Mary Malkowski (nee Cimicata), 66, died on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at her home. Mary was born in Hoboken and lived most of her life in Lyndhurst. She attended the Marie Katzenbach/NJ School for the Deaf and went on to college where she received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Mary was also a member of the Alpha Psi Omega drama fraternity during her time at Gallaudet. Mary worked as Vocational Evaluator for many years at both the Fair Lawn Deaf Program and Jewish Vocational Services of Metro West in East Orange as well as an ASL instructor at Bergen Community College before retiring. Mary had several hobbies but she fell in love with quilting and would often go on retreats bringing back new skills and new projects she wanted to pursue.


Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Carlee Denholtz & her husband, Joshua, Sara Malkowski, and Marissa Malkowski & her husband, Richard Chen, her grandchildren, Felix Chen and precious baby granddaughter on the way, her partner of over 20 years, Darren Carfano Sr., her brothers and sisters, Thomas Cimicata, Ann Lewis & her husband, Glenn, John Cimicata & his wife, Eileen, Valerie Troncone & her late husband, Anthony Troncone, and Paul Cimicata & his wife Michele. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews as well as a great niece and nephews.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 4 PM - 8 PM. All will gather at the funeral home on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 9 AM, then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 10 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NJ Association of the Deaf online by clicking here. You may express condolences to Mary's family by using our tribute wall.
