Paula J. Franchini (nee Rinaldi), 65, of Columbia, NJ, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Paula was raised in Lyndhurst and she attended Queen of Peace High School and Immaculate Heart Academy. She then attended Montclair State College and Montana State University for Nursing. She discovered her passion for caring for others early in life and after completing her education, she began her lifelong career in nursing in which many came to know her as the dedicated nurse she was. She started her family in Kearny before moving to Florida where she continued her nursing career with the same committment and gentle care that defined her life's work. As a memory care nurse, Paula cared for many patients with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. She brought comfort not only to her patients but also to their families, offering reassurance and understanding during vulnerable moments. Her impact was felt deeply by all who crossed her path. Paula moved to Polebridge, Montana where her daughters soon followed. Ten years ago, she moved back to NJ where she worked in Saddle River before moving to Columbia. Aside from her dedication to her career, Paula was always known for her purple hair.
Paula is survived by her loving daughters, Nicole Hensley and her husband, Keith and their children, Maddie and Charlie and Micaela Franchini-White and her husband, Levi and their children, Kieryssa, twins; Laney and Dustyn, and Tyson, by her dear sisters and brother, Marietta Pedano and her husband, Michael, Frances Dettra and her husband, Jack, and Michael Rinaldi and his wife, Blanca, by her companion, John Poggi, and by many nieces and nephews.
