James McGlew Obituary

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, James McGlew, 97, of Lyndhurst and Montrose, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, with his family at his side. Jim was born in North Bergen and moved to Lyndhurst in 1959, where he lived ever since.  Jim was a U.S. Army veteran, a Corporal in the 3rd Infantry Division serving during the Korean War in 1951. He was awarded both the Bronze Service Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge for infantry soldiers who actively engaged in ground combat under hostile fire.  Jim was a member of American Legion Post 139.  He was the owner of James McGlew Ceramic Tile and worked throughout northern New Jersey for many years before he retired.

His hallmark was his cheerful Irish disposition and positive outlook on life.  Jim took great pleasure in his lifelong love of gardening, the outdoors and the many years spent with family at the farm in Pennsylvania.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Flora (nee Parladore), and by his loving children, Laureen McGlew, James McGlew II and his wife, Kathleen and Ellen Ficacci and her husband, Anthony.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Cara, James III, Anthony and Conor and his dear sister, Joan McGlew-Condra.

James’ service is private and under the direction of Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ.  You may express condolences by using our tribute wall.
