Robert “Bob” J. Kramp, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025, after a long, full, and meaningful life.
Born in Jersey City, Bob was a proud, lifelong resident of Lyndhurst - a true “Lyndhurst guy.” While attending Lyndhurst High School, Bob achieved the title of the 1954 MVP, a time when the Lyndhurst Golden Bears Football team won the state championship. He knew the town inside and out and had an incredible memory for its history, often sharing stories about the origins of local businesses and buildings with family and friends.
Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps alongside some of his closest friends and was part of the first deployment to Beirut, Lebanon. He served honorably from 1955 to 1958 and continued in the Marine Corps Reserves until 1961. A Marine through and through, Bob carried that pride with him throughout his life. Semper Fi.
Despite his larger-than-life stature, Bob was a kind, warm, and welcoming presence who made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed cheering on the New York Giants, spending time at Marty’s and the City Lounge, and sharing laughs with familiar faces. To his grandchildren and their peers at Jefferson school, he was lovingly known as “Big Bob,” always showing up with love and reliability.
Bob remained sharp-minded to the very end, with a quick wit and a strong sense of who he was and what he valued. While his friendships, stories, and presence will be deeply missed by the many lives he touched, he now joins the many loved ones waiting to welcome him home.
Bob was predeceased by his devoted parents, James and Hazel (née Fieberling) Kramp, beloved wife, June (née Chamberlain) Kramp in 2003, his daughter, Karen Burkhardt Whalen in 2007, his cherished grandson, Jordan Tague in 2018, and his brother, Philip Kramp.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Kramp, Jr. and Michael Tague; his dear grandchildren, Andrew Burkhardt and Natalie Tague; and many loyal friends who became family over the years, especially Frank Spero and his wife, Stephanie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
