Genevieve Sparta (nee Dubanowicz), 95, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Genevieve was born and raised in Jersey City.  She met Lawrence Sparta shortly after graduating high school. At the tender age of 19, she and Lawrence married and moved into the Sparta family home in Lyndhurst, where she has lived ever since.  Genevieve was dedicated to her husband and raising her three sons. She learned and mastered Italian cooking from her mother-in-law, Josephine. She would attend Mount Carmel Church and became very active in the parish.  Genevieve cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.  Her conviction of love and family will be carried in our hearts forever. Genevieve was predeceased by her siblings, Francis, Victoria, Helen, Stella, Angela, Walter and Joseph and her beloved husband, Lawrence P. Sparta in 2013.  She is survived by her loving sons, Lawrence W. Sparta & his wife, Beth, Dennis J. Sparta & his wife, Maureen amd Joseph G. Sparta & his wife, Jane, by her dear grandchildren, Dennis R. Sparta, Kristin Dimeck (Eric), Timothy Sparta (Vanessa), Laurie Flores (Brian),  and by her great grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Dimeck, Hailey, Ella, and Gianna Sparta and Sofia Flores.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4 - 7 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10AM. Then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where at 11AM, a funeral mass will be offered.  Entombment to follow, Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital online by clicking here. You may express condolences to Genevieve’s family by using our tribute wall.
