James Guy Valentine, Sr., 81, a lifelong resident of Lyndhurst, died on Friday, February 27, 2026. James “Jim” died peacefully surrounded by his family.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, Geraldine (nee Keenan) and Irving “Slim”, as well as his sisters, Gail and Rita Valentine. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth “Liz” (nee Lotito), his children, James Guy Jr. and his wife Bozena “Bo," Michael and his wife Tammy, and Christina “Tina” and her husband Brian Leary, and his 3 grandchildren and 1 furgrandchild, whom he adored, Christopher James, Ian William, Ella Elizabeth, and Ariana. He is also survived by his sister Valerie L. Daub Sr. and dozens of nieces, nephews, and in-laws, and his special goddaughter, Maria Anita Carbone.
Jim began his career as an apprentice plumber in 1964 and obtained his master plumber license in 1969. In 1973, he built his own business, Valentine Plumbing and Heating, servicing Lyndhurst and all surrounding towns for more than 47 years. He was a member of the Elks Club and Amvets, Lyndhurst Chapter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 40 Spring Street, Lodi, New Jersey on Tuesday, March 24th at 10AM. Kindly arrive at church 9:45AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim’s memory to a charity of your choice. You may express condolences to Jim’s family by using our tribute wall. Private cremation is under the direction of Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ.
