John F. Gottberg, Sr. Obituary
John F. Gottberg, Sr., 69, died peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, after battling cancer, with his wife beside him. John was born and raised in Union City; he spent 20 years in North Caldwell and the past 3 years at the Four Seasons over 55 Adult Community of Lakewood, NJ. John spent his entire life in the dairy business, beginning at the family owned, Buttercup Farms, making several stops throughout his career. His outgoing, friendly, people-oriented personality proved his outstanding sales ability. Everyone who met John would quickly surpass the transactional relationship and become his friend. John was warm and inviting and we felt at home in his presence. Although our hearts ache, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace. John is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Marilyn Gottberg (nee Garrymore), by his children, John Jr., Andrew and Jillian, by his four grandchildren and his sister, Mary Anne Baljko & her husband, Joseph. John also leaves behind his cherished fur baby, Johnny Cash or “Cash” as he lovingly called him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home Inc, 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4 - 7 PM. All will gather at the funeral home on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Funeral Service begins at 11 AM. Entombment to follow, Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.
