Marie A. “Re Re” Morrone (nee Mostardo), 94, died on Sunday, April 19, 2026.  Mrs. Morrone was born and raised in Lyndhurst where her family and community shaped her life.  She then made her home in Brick where she continued to build lasting friendships.  Marie worked as a telephone operator for NJ Bell in Rutherford, connecting calls in an era when a friendly phone call kept people in touch.  She then went on to work for Becton Dickinson in East Rutherford, retiring January 1994.  Marie was a second mother to many, a devoted family member, and a cherished friend who truly took care of everyone around her.  She was selfless by nature and shared her love freely, making everyone feel valued and cared for.  She was deeply active and supportive in her community, especially as a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church in Brick, where she enjoyed working bingo and volunteering at the community food bank.  Marie will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her, she was truly one of a kind. “She’s a tough loss. She was an original.” Although she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, US Army Veteran Joseph C. “Buddy” Morrone in 2012.  She is survived by her dear brother, Arthur Mustardo and a large, loving extended family of step children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; too many to list, but all cherished and loved.  The Dolly Sisters are together again.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 4 – 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 22 at 9 AM and a funeral mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst at 10 AM.  Entombment, Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.  You may express your condolences to Marie’s family by using our tribute wall.
