Eugene Michael DeHaven, 83, died on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Mr. DeHaven was born and raised in Bayonne before moving to Lyndhurst in 1978. He lived in Watchung for the past 2 years. Eugene worked as a finance and insurance manager for International Harvester in Linden for 35 years, retiring in 2008. He was a devoted member of St. Michael’s Church in Lyndhurst, where his faith guided every aspect of his life. He generously served the parish in many roles throughout the years, including Director of the RCIA and CCD programs, lector, choir member, and Eucharistic Minister. His dedication to sharing and teaching the Catholic faith touched countless lives within the parish community. He was also proud to serve as a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, living his faith through charity, fellowship, and service. Eugene also had a passion for music; he was a DJ and also played the guitar and drums. When he wasn't playing music himself, he was listening to his favorite band, The Beatles. Eugene enjoyed watching the Mets, boating on Greenwood Lake, and sitting back with a good beer. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Eugene is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Maureen DeHaven (née Latko), by their loving children, Danielle Ferreira and her husband, Carlos and Ian DeHaven and his wife, Michelle, by his cherished grandchildren, Neve, Alexandra, Nora, and Naya, by his dear sister and brother, Carol Andersen and Thomas DeHaven, and by many nieces and nephews.
