Herbert Guglielmi, 88, died on Friday, May 22, 2026.  Herbert was born in Newark and lived most of his life in Lyndhurst, on the same block with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Herbert was a truck driver for Roadway Express, Inc. of Carlstadt for many years, retiring in 2004.  He was the definition of “outdoorsman.”  He enjoyed the mountains, especially the Adirondacks and Catskills, snowmobiling, hiking, and his happiest place was in a tree stand taking in all of nature for hours on end.  Herbert enjoyed a good game of poker with his friends and he and Karen bowled together at Lodi Lanes, earning a perfect score of 300.         

In his final years, Herbert was unable to embrace the outdoors and the adventures he loved so dearly. Though his absence brings sorrow, we find solace in imagining that his spirit now roams heaven as beautiful as the mountains he cherished, finally enjoying once more the peace and joy he found among the peaks.  Herbert is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Karen (nee Lemanski) Guglielmi, by his loving children, Gary Guglielmi & his wife, Susan and Debra Mitschele, by his dear grandchildren, Jaclyn Turner (Jack) and Anna Guglielmi, and by many cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 4 PM - 6 PM.  The funeral service begins at 5:30 PM.  Private cremation to follow.  You may express condolences to Herbert’s family by using our tribute wall.
