Barbara [Bellina] Alonzo, “Bubbles,” passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, at 85-years-old. 

Born to Fred and Mary Bellina on January 25, 1941 in Belleville and raised in Lyndhurst on Livingston Avenue, she graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1959. It was there she met her lifelong partner and husband of 35 years, Donald Alonzo, whom she married on April 11, 1964.

She is survived by her children, Maria and her husband Benny, Joseph, and Dayna and her husband Anthony; her husband, Donald Alonzo; and her pride and joy, grandchildren, Tara, John, Donnie, Amber, Jade, Summer, and Hayley. She was also a loving sibling to her brother Fred and his wife Dolores, and a dear aunt to their four children, Lynda, Tony, Donna, and Freddie.

Barbara and Don opened a catering business in Lyndhurst, and later fulfilled a lifetime dream of opening Alonzo’s Fine Italian Cuisine in Midtown Manhattan. They later retired in Point Pleasant Beach, but they weren’t done yet -- they opened Stewart’s Root Beer that still thrives today. 

Joining her in heaven are her parents, Fred and Mary; her brother, Sonny; her in-laws Joe and Lucille Alonzo; her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Petretta; and her best friend, “JJ” Crupi.

To know Barbara was to love her. If you were lucky enough to sit with her on her deck in Point Pleasant Beach watching the Thursday night fireworks — you were lucky enough. While we mourn her loss, may we find peace and comfort in knowing that Barbara lived a life as full as her martini glass — up with a twist. Finally free to “fly to the moon” and “play among the stars,” she will at last get that dance with Frank Sinatra in heaven.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 3 - 7 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 12 PM then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where a funeral mass will be offered at 1 PM.  Interment to follow, Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.  You may express your condolences to Barbara’s family by using our tribute wall.
