James G. Cahill Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share that our beloved James Gerard Cahill sadly passed away on July 6th, 2026 at the age of 61. My father James, known as Jimmy, was born in Paterson, New Jersey on April 19th, 1965, and he lived most of his life in this state.
James was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend, and most importantly, a believer and son of God. James never once complained about his physical ailments, nor did he ever begin to allow them to define who he was, despite enduring them for decades. He was a selfless, loving, persevering, and hopeful individual without ceasing.
He was a wonderful singer and musician for the Lord. He was a fellowship coordinator and pillar in the Christian church. My father was an ambassador for the Lord Jesus Christ and a preacher of the mystery - the greatest secret in the world today. He didn’t just partake in fellowship and the Word of God throughout his life–fellowship and the word of God was his life.
I wrote this poem for my father on his birthday:
“A man of God with a heart and soul that’s pure; sin and blemish paid for by Christ
The embodiment of service for others; selfless mercy and grace practiced through life
An ambassador for God and his word; a living sacrifice for the revealed truth
A foundational rock that holds me steadfast; thou shalt not be moved
Modeled relationship formed mirroring heavenly as God does when I cry out you too answer me
Provided me with morals and lessons still cherished; these foundations from you my foundation embedded in me
Motivation through patience, care, and unconditional love; pushing, urging, encouraging me to harness potential and aim farther
No Spiderman required and no Batman desired; my role model, my protector, my superhero, my father.”
He never stopped talking about the hope of Christ’s return, and we all can find great comfort in knowing that it will be his next moment of consciousness.
He is remembered not only by his wonderful wife, Chrissy Cahill, and his two sons, Liam Cahill and me, Aidan Cahill, but also by every believer and nonbeliever, man and woman, whose life his abundant heart has touched and made an impact on.
His memory lives on in all of us, and his voice lives on through his teachings and his music. His spirit is forever and will be there at the gathering beside all the wonderful children of God. This is not the end of James Cahill.
Cremation is private and under the direction of Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.
