Daniel Duca, Sr., most recently of Brigantine, passed away peacefully surrounded by music and the love of his family. Born in 1936 in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey, Daniel was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Daniel was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Juliette (nee Grady) Duca, with whom he shared a remarkable life and family. He leaves behind his three children, Dr. Daniel Duca, Jr.; Christopher Duca; and Theresa Scott and her husband, Brian. He was a deeply cherished grandfather to Jack, Katie, Meredith, Paige, Michael, Sabrina, Brendan, Olivia, Nolan, and Hailey.

From an early age, Daniel’s life was filled with music. A talented singer and drummer, he began performing at just 15 years old and continued sharing his gift of music throughout his entire life. He was the drummer in band The Hubcaps. In 1959, Brunswick Records released band’s first record “Scotty’s Rock” and “Sleeping Beauty”. Music was a lifelong passion and a joyful part of who he was. His music brought his family together and became woven into the fabric of their many cherished memories, holidays, and traditions.

Daniel also enjoyed a long and accomplished career as a draftsman, working with structural steel and concrete. He took great pride in his work and in his profession. Daniel also served in the US Army and National Guard.

A devout Roman Catholic, Daniel’s faith was an important part of his life. Above all, he was devoted to his family. He raised his family in Middletown, New Jersey.

His grandchildren brought him immense joy. He was always their biggest fan, taking great pride in their talents and accomplishments in theatre, music, sports, and education. Their laughter and visits brought out his wonderful laugh and unmistakable twinkle in his eye.

Daniel also had a special love for the Jersey Shore. He and his family spent many wonderful years in Ortley Beach, and during his retirement years, he continued to enjoy the beauty and spirit of the Jersey coast, making Brigantine Beach his home.

Daniel was born to the late Carmine Duca and Mary (DiLeo) Duca and was also predeceased by his eight siblings: Marie, Matthew, Nicholas, Angela, Rose, Eleanor, Carmine Jr. and Anthony

Daniel will be remembered for his deep faith, love of music, wonderful laugh, devotion to his family, and the joy he found in bringing everyone together. His greatest legacy is the love he gave his family and the memories, holidays, traditions, and songs they will carry with them always.

His music may have ended, but the song of his life will continue in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 4 – 8 PM. All will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 9 AM, followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst, at 10 AM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
