Obituary of John J. Gaffey

Gaffey, John J., 70, of North Arlington, died on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Mr. Gaffey was born in Roscommon, Ireland, came to the US in 1964 and has been a resident of North Arlington for 31 years. He was an Army Veteran who served in The Vietnam War 1965-1971. He was a Bus Mechanic for The New York City Transit Authority for 22 years, retiring in 1991. He then went to work for Hudson City Savings, Paramus in the Maintenance Dept. for 9 years, retiring in 2001. John is predeceased by his two sisters, Kathleen Bailey in 1995 and Christine Donnelly in 2012. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (nee Maguire) Gaffey, his loving children, Mary Ellen Zidiak and her husband, Mark and John P. Gaffey and his wife, Tegan, by his dear grandson, Kevin Zidiak and by his sisters, Ita Foy (England) and Noreen Whelan (Ireland) and by many loving nieces and nephews residing in England, Ireland and the US. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10 AM then to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington where at 11 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 PM.
