Benedetto, Frank, 64, of Lyndhurst, died on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Mr. Benedetto was born in New York, NY and has been a resident of Lyndhurst since 1957. He was a Marine Corps Veteran who served from 1967 to 1969. Frank attended Bergen County Police Academy in 1973, Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy of Glenco, GA in 1983, FBI National Police Academy, 148th Session, Quantico, VA in 1987 and International Assoc. of Chiefs of Police, Alexandria, VA in 1994. He was the Chief of Operations at Bergen County Sheriff�s Dept. for 33 years (1970-2000) and then Director of the Bergen County Div. of Consumer Affairs for 8 years (2003-2011). Frank had been Past President of the Lyndhurst School Board, a member of AmVETS Post 20, Italian American Club & Columbus Club, all of Lyndhurst and Italian American Police Society Man of the Year. Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (nee Allen) Benedetto, by his loving children, Dawn Failace & her husband, Michael, Diane Gress & her husband, Richard and Dr. Frank Benedetto & his wife, Jaclyn, by his dear grandchildren, Jessica & Michael Failace, Mackenzie Gress and Frankie & Olivia Benedetto, by his sisters, Cecilia Biddescomb, Angela Pfeifer & her husband, Dan and Frances Benedetto and by his niece and nephew, John & Christine Biddescomb. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 9:30 AM then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 10:30 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
