Pezzolla, Richard J., 68, of Lyndhurst died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Pezzolla was born in Kearny and was a life long resident of Lyndhurst. He was the Business Manager for Frank�s Truck Center of Lyndhurst. Richie, as he is known to most, was a legend in our town in the field of sports, from little league to professional, not only as an athlete, but as a promoter of sportsmanship, and respect for the games he played and loved. By example, Richie always instilled immense power, enthusiasm and high ideals of fairness and tremendous work ethics to his family, his friends, the children of his friends, and all he touched. Richie was a charter member of the committee which founded the LHS Hall of Fame over 30 years ago. He has given unlimited input to the committee from the beginning up to the present. He was himself inducted into this prestigious group. Richie was also a member of the Italian American Club, and a Former Trustee of the Board of Education, both of Lyndhurst. He was an incredibly brave, inspirational man who kept his dignity, his good sense, his wit and above all his sense of humor to the end. He was an Icon of humanity and humanistic values. His entire life overflowed with many, many friend from all walks of life, encompassing all ages. If his world was measured by the friends who knew and loved him, it would fill a universe. Richie is predeceased by his brother, Louis Pezzolla. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carole (nee Vai) Pezzolla, his loving daughters, Michele Kesack and Tina Catalano and her husband Michael, by his dear two grandchildren, Danny Kesack and Juliann Catalano, and his sisters, Lorraine Holly and Jane Donnellon and her husband Marty. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 9:30AM then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 10:30AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. Visiting hours Thursday 7-9 PM and Friday 3-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Pezzolla Memorial Fund, 519 Laurel Avenue, Lyndhurst, N.J. 07071.
