O�Brien, Peter J. �Jackie�, 72, of Nutley died on Tuesday May 27, 2008. Mr. O�Brien was born in Newark and has been a resident of Nutley for 32 years. He worked as a Corrections Officer for the Essex County Jail, Newark for 20 years and the Essex County Jail Annex, Caldwell for 5 years, retiring after 25 years of service in 1994 as a Sergeant. He was an Army Veteran serving during peacetime (1955-57). He was an active member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where he was a worker for their Feast & Bingo, maintenance for the church and in Holy Name Society. He was a member Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #106, Newark. He was predeceased by his son, John J. O�Brien (4/18/2008) and by his brother, the late James O�Brien. Jackie is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn (nee Biscardi) O�Brien, his two loving children, Kathy Werrell & her husband, Eddie of Lyndhurst and Peter J. O�Brien & his wife, Laura of Hewitt, and by seven grandchildren, Shannon O�Brien, Eddie, Christopher, & Michael Werrell, Alayna, Shane, and Amanda O�Brien and by two great grandsons, Ethan & Evan O�Brien. He is also survived by his two siblings, Jeanette Riley of Toms River and Bernard O�Brien of Bloomfield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Friday May 30, 2008 at 10 AM then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 11 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Visiting hours Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
