Obituary of Audrey C. Diamante

Please share a memory of Audrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Audrey Ruggero Diamante passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Chandler Hall with her daughter, Lisa, at her side at the age of 82. She was a 30 year breast cancer survivor, unfortunately, although she fought a valiant battle, the lung cancer won this time. Born in Montclair NJ to the late Helen & Joseph Ruggero, her husband of 52 years, Amadio, (Benny) passed away in 2009. Survivors include her loving daughters, Laura & husband, Harry and Lisa & her husband, James; her 4 grandchildren, Joseph, Domenic, Janet & Michael; her sister Joan Moritz; nephew Andrew & his wife, Marianne; niece, Debbie; and many great nieces & nephews. She graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1955 & worked as an executive secretary for many companies including Rand, Becton-Dickinson, Curtis-Wright Corporation, Nestle Chocolate Company and Equifax. In her semi-retirement years she worked part-time for Enercom & Supcom. Her last job was working for the Our Lady of Grace CARES program; one she felt was her favorite because she loved working with children.

Audrey loved being involved during her daughters school years. She was on the PTA Board for many years, was a Brownie & Girl Scout Leader, President of her bowling league, Vice-President at Middletown Senior Citizen Center, and co-chairman of activities for the Heathergate Friendly Fivers. She also volunteered at Passaic General Hospital in New Jersey, and for Starfish, driving the elderly to doctor appointments. She enjoyed arts & crafts, playing Scrabble, Bingo & cards, and who can forget her love of Halloween and her amazing costumes. She was a fantastic cook and loved nothing more than to share a meal with you. She loved life, smiled all the time and simply enjoyed just being with people.
Her biggest pride and joy were her 4 grandchildren. After her husband passed away she said they were the reason for her to go on. She always said grandchildren were God's reason for growing old. She loved spending time with them, together and individually and attended all their events. She rarely missed a game, play, or award assembly in their honor. The family wishes to thank Jamie, Maria, and Evelyn for all their loving home care to Audrey and also to all the staff at the Pavilion for their love, support and care.

Family and friends are invited to call from 8:30 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 S. Bellevue Avenue, Penndel, PA 19047 where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Repast will immediately follow.
