Obituary of Howard Wartel

Wartel, Howard, 93, died on Monday, March 25, 2019.  Mr. Wartel was born in Jersey City and has been a life long resident of Lyndhurst.  He was a World War II Navy Veteran serving 1944-1946.  A  Master Plumber by trade, Howard worked for ITT of Nutley then The Federal Reserve Bank of N.Y. in  East Rutherford before he retired.  He was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the V.F.W., Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, Columbus Club and Elks Lodge #1505 all of Lyndhurst.  He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.  Mr. Wartel is predeceased by his daughter, Mary Ann, by his parents, Abraham and Anna, by his six brothers and sisters, Dorothy, Sylvia, Rose, Steve, Murray and Judy.  Howie is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Antoinette (nee Prudenti), Wartel, his loving sons, Anthony Wartel & his wife, Nelly, Ken Wartel and his wife, Gerri, Michael Wartel and his wife, Libera, Robert Wartel and Anna, David Wartel and his wife, Lori,  by his 9 cherished grandchildren, Kenny Wartel & his wife, Angela, Bryan, Amy, Rachael, Nicole, Salvatore, Jonathan, Jennifer and Cierra and by 2 great grandchildren, Gia and Anderson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 3 to 8PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 9AM, then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where at 10AM a Funeral Mass will be offered.  Entombment, Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.  His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Howard's memory to Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org/donate) or St. Jude Childrens Hospital (st.jude.org)
