Obituary of Anna Sovak

Anna Sovak (nee Leskanich), 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Wayne, New Jersey on December 19, 2019.  A former Rutherford, New Jersey resident for over 40 years, she was born on July 14, 1929 to her parents Mary Butchko and Frank Leskanich in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  Anna was the oldest of three children, including her late brother Theodore and sister Helen. Anna was married to her husband John Sovak for 39 years until his passing in 1992.  She was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and volunteered in their parish office for many years. 

Anna is survived by her loving son Daniel Sovak and late daughter in-law Jennifer Loomis, her loving daughter and son in-law Nancy and Steven Waldner and their children Katherine and Brian, her loving daughter Susan Dugas, son in-law Guy Dugas, and their children Julia and Brandon.  She is also survived by her sister Helen Sajer, as well as 12 nieces and nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, December 28 at 9:30 AM then to St. Mary’s Church, 91 Home Avenue, Rutherford, NJ where at 10:30 AM a funeral mass will be celebrated.  Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
