Mercurio was born in Jersey City and lived in Lyndhurst for 60 years. She was a Customer Service Supervisor for Homelite, Div. of Textron Industries for over 25 years. She was instrumental in starting the Lyndhurst Girls� Softball League in 1964, a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Seniors and Choir, Social Concerns, the Golden Tones and the Society of Saint Theresa, as well as an avid bowler on several leagues, with a score of 215 game at age 72 to win the BRC Club 55 Classic against 118 BRC Centers across the US and Canada. Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Philip D. Mercurio in 1965. She is survived by her loving daughter, Gloria Mercurio of Red Bank, by her nephews, Anthony Gilio, Vincent Gilio & his wife Antoinette (Honey) and Alex Gilio & his wife, Barbara, by her niece, Cathy Ann Ocascio & her husband, Ralph and by her great nieces and nephew, Catherine & Gabrielle Gilio and Nicole & Eric Ocascio. Relatives and friends are invited to the attend the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 8:30 AM then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 9:30 AM a Funeral Mass will be held. Interment Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Michael J.
