My deepest sympathies on the passing of an incredible friend and customer. I met Mary Ellen in 1999 when she was an ACO. I have been the groomer yo all of her rescues for the past 21 years. She was a Friend thru some of my hard times and helped with TNR and rescue cats over the years. I will miss her and Lolli so much. I have planted trees for all her beloved lost pets and will be making a donation to a ShihTzu rescue in honor of how very much she loved her Lolli. Godspeed Mary Ellen. You are with all of the 4 legged ones you saved and nurtured. Janie Semprevivo Wag N Wash

My sincere condolences on the devastating loss of Maryellen. I will miss our phone conversations -- most of all the loss of just hearing her voice. Such a wonderful person who saved many animals' lives while Director of the Bergen County Animal Shelter. She is now with my beloved "face kissing" Pitbull, "Koda", whom she adored and helped get through many medical issues. I could never thank her enough.
Always in my prayers and thoughts.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mary Ellen was a true animal lover and advocate, and ran that shelter selflessly like every animal was her own. We don't see that much anymore from people that run shelters. I remember her coming in early in the morning with a cooked chicken for any animal in medical that wasn't eating. And I remember her sitting in the kennels hand feeding the sick pups. And they always ate for her, she just had that magic touch. Now she will be reunited with all the animals she has saved and loved.

My deepest sympathy to Mary Ellen's family. I met her at BCAS 35 years ago, and we became close friends. Mary Ellen was a sweet, kind, generous woman who loved 'all creatures great and small'. In her Christian way, she excelled at dedication to animals and at helping others who shared her mission. She was a generous mentor, setting the highest example of what love and kindness mean. There is a huge void without her, and I thank God for giving Mary Ellen to our world. May she rest in deserved peace. Cheryl Wright Vee, Rutherford, NJ
