Obituary of Vita M. Del Russo

Del Russo, Vita M. (Spalluto), 93, of Lyndhurst, died on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Mrs. Del Russo was born in Lodi and had been a resident of Lyndhurst for over 80 years. Vita was a secretary for I.T.T. of Nutley for 38 years, retiring in 1997. She then worked as an aide in Rutherford 's grammar school until 2016. Vita is survived by her beloved children, Debra Castiglione and her husband, Michael, Robert Del Russo and his wife, Belinda and the late Yvonne Hoefsloot, by her son-in-law, Hank Hoefsloot, by her loving grandchildren, Derrick Hoefsloot, Tara Connor, Christopher Castiglione, Justin Castiglione and Lindsey De Candia and by her dear great grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth, Ryan, Juliana, Justin, Ava, Luke, John and Michael. Also survived by her sisters, Grace Ryan, Linda Kearns and the late Antoinette Kist.

Vita loved being surrounded by family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, going dancing, and had a love for fashion. She was always dressed to the nines even in her hardest of days.

Black Russians were her drink of choice and she always knew how to have a good time.  She was flattered when people would tell her how young she looked and she always did, even at 93.

Vita loved her three children so much and is now reunited with her daughter, Yvonne. Vita loved her grandchildren more than anything and always loved receiving phone calls from them “just to talk.” She had a soft spot for her great-grandchildren and would smile from ear to ear when she saw them. She loved being a “little grandma” to them.  Despite her age, Vita was always up to date with the newest technology and made sure to comment on all her loved one’s photos, always signing it, “love, grandma.”  Vita loved receiving FaceTime calls from her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her smile continued to light up the room when she saw them.

Vita will be missed by all. Until we meet again.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 4 - 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, September 2nd at 9 AM then to Sacred Heart R.C. Church where at 10 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered.  Entombment, Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vita's memory to St. Jude Children’s' Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148.   You may express your condolences to Vita's family by using our tribute wall.
