Obituary of Frederick Joseph Verlingo

Verlingo, Fred J., 80, died Friday, February 11, 2022.  Mr. Verlingo was born and raised in Jersey City.  He met and married the love of his life, Carol Antonucci and together they raised their two children in Jersey City until the late 1980s when they moved to Lyndhurst, living in town since then.  Fred had a passion for all things golf, reading about world history, cooking and eating Italian food and was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan.  He loved listening to Frank Sinatra and lived life in the spirit of his favorite Sinatra song ‘My Way’.  Above all, Fred loved spending time with his family - his wife, children, cherished grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.  His absence will be felt deeply by all who loved him.   He is predeceased by his son, Christian Verlingo who passed away in January 2022 and his two brothers, Bernard and Robert Verlingo.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol Verlingo (nee Antonucci), by his beautiful daughter, Clorinda Pasqua & her husband, Peter, his dear daughter- in-law, Nicole Verlingo, his precious grandchildren, Christian, Nicholas and Daniella Verlingo and his brother, Salvatore Verlingo & his wife, Kathleen.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will take place at Holy Cross Mausoleum on Wednesday, February 16. 2022, beginning 11AM.  Entombment immediately following.  Kindly omit flowers and consider a donation in Fred’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.  You can express condolences to Fred’s family by using our tribute wall.
