Obituary of Joan Frances Baratta

Joan Baratta (nee Halleran), 68, of Lyndhurst, died at home with her family by her side on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Joan was born and raised in Kearny before moving to Lyndhurst to raise her family. She worked in various marketing and sales jobs in the textile industry and later as a paraprofessional in the Lyndhurst School District. Although family and her Irish heritage were always first in her heart, she also loved festive holiday decorating, watching crime dramas, reading, and vacationing at the Jersey shore. Joan approached life with a sense of humor and a singular flair that will be greatly missed.  Joan is predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (Lynch) Halleran, and her sister, Thérèse Halleran. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Francis Baratta, her children, Francesca Baratta and her fiancé Antonio Regalado, and Nicole Baratta, her mother-in-law, Lucy (Cardillo) Baratta,  and by a host of loving sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10 AM to 2 PM. A memorial service will begin at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Covenant House, Times Square Station, P.O.
