Obituary of Thomas Nelson

Nelson, Thomas, 81, of Lyndhurst, died on Sunday, June 5, 2022.  Mr. Nelson was born and raised in New York, NY, lived in Rutherford for 35 years, and was a resident of Lyndhurst for the past 13 years.  Thomas proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1962 - 1966.  Upon his honorable discharge, he began his employment as a machinist for Superior Packaging in Carlstadt where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 2005.  Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years this coming November, Irene Nelson (nee Pravetz), by their loving children, Thomas Nelson, Jr. and his wife, Beth and Michael Nelson and his wife, Lisa, by his cherished grandchildren, Thomas "TJ" Nelson, Jordan Nelson, and Ashley Pula, by his dear brother and sisters, Joseph Nelson and his wife, Sonia, Joann Brady and her husband, Robert, and Roseann Merkis and her husband, Bruce, and by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother and sisters, George Nelson, Dorothy Cintron, Marilyn Lapine, and Albertina "Tina" Lester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 4 - 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, June 11 at 9 AM then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where at 10 AM a funeral mass will be offered.  Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Thomas' memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online by clicking here.  You may express your condolences to Thomas' family by using our tribute wall.
