Obituary of Irene B. Skop

Skop, Irene B. (nee Rutkowski), 96, of Brick, died on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.  Mrs. Skop was born and raised in Jersey City, moved to Lyndhurst in 1990, and has been a resident of Brick for the past 12 years.  She worked for Colgate Company, Western Electric, and then for the payroll department at the Jersey Journal all in Jersey City, retiring in 1988.  Irene belonged to the Senior Citizen Center and the Friendship Club, both in Lyndhurst.  She enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, and traveling, especially her trips to Atlantic City with the seniors.  Above all else, she loved her family and was a very loving, caring, and generous mother and grandmother. 

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Edward Skop (1990), loving mother of Barbara Zaleski and her husband, the late Stephen H. Zaleski, the late Edward Skop and his wife, Nancy, and the late Anthony Skop, cherished grandmother of the late Stephen E. Zaleski and the late John E. Adornetto, dear sister of Regina Meross and her husband, Joseph, and sister-in-law of Helen Messerle.  Irene was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Stanley Skop, Chester Skop, Harriet Michalski, Stella Ciba, Helen Witt, and Josephine Rutkowski and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 10:30 AM - 12 PM.  A funeral service will begin at 12 PM.  Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
