Obituary of Neal A Calabrese, Jr.

Neal A. Calabrese, Jr. (87) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 10, 2023. Born in Hoboken to Matilda (Ballerino) and Aniello Calabrese, he resided in Hoboken and Ridgefield Park before moving to North Arlington. Neal is survived by his loving children, Laura Harris (Mark), Neal Calabrese III (JoAnne) and Rachelle Santala (William). Proud grandfather of Katherine and Neal Calabrese IV and Brielle and Samantha Santala. Devoted brother of Camille Calabrese (Nissan), and uncle to Neal Kiniery (Maria). He is predeceased by his sister, Maryann Kiniery and nephew, Kenny Kiniery. 

Neal was a proud longshoreman, working at Port Newark for many years before becoming the Shop Steward at the Meadowlands, Local #69. While Neal loved his jobs and made many lasting friendships, what he loved most of all was spending time with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events and cooking for his family. Everyone who knew him understood that food was an expression of his love. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, 403 Ridge Road in Lyndhurst on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 4 - 8 PM.  A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace, North Arlington on Wednesday, November 15th at 11:00 am.  Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
