Juan M. Fernandez 87, died on Saturday, March 23, 2024.  Juan was born and raised in Muros, Spain and immigrated to the United States in 1955 and lived “down neck” Newark.

He and his wife, Anna moved to Lyndhurst in1974 where they raised their family and later moved to North Arlington where he has lived ever since.  He was a restaurant owner and operator in Newark for many years and left the industry to spend more time with his family. He built a new career with Amalgamated Union Local 5 as a Business Representative for years before retiring as Vice President with United Food & Commercial Workers Local 348-S. Juan is predeceased by his beloved, Anna M Fernandez (nee Ditri) in May of 2017.  He is survived by his loving children, Bernadette Fernandez-Coltenback & her husband, Don and John Fernandez & his wife, Melissa, his brother Paco, and nieces Mariel and Marine'.  By his cherished grandchildren, Bianca and Donald Jr. Coltenback and John, Jr, Salvatore and Marcello Fernandez. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4 - 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 12PM, then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where at 1PM, a funeral mass will be offered.  Entombment to follow, Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.  You may express condolences to Juan's family by clicking on our tribute wall.
