Piserchia, Barbara Ann (nee Layden), 61, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and then she and her family moved to Lyndhurst, NJ in 1976. She most recently moved to Rockaway, NJ to live closer to her mom and sisters.  The majority of Barb's career in retail was spent at The Avenue in Rochelle Park, NJ. Her most recent position was with GenServe in Fairfield/Pinebrook, NJ. Her coworkers at both The Avenue and GenServe quickly became life-long friends who she cherished dearly. Barbara loved watching Yankees games, going to country music concerts, and was an avid reader who often finished a book in one sitting. She loved all things Harry Potter, including all the friends she made in her online Harry Potter groups and looked forward to being with them each year in Universal Studio in Orlando. Barb also was heavily involved in cancer support groups and met online with them almost daily to provide support to one another.  To say these groups helped her through her 2.5 year battle with colon cancer, would be an understatement.  

Barbara is predeceased by her dear father, Thomas M. Layden in 1985.  She is survived by her loving mother, Grace Layden, by her beloved sisters, Mary Pace & her husband, Lou, Jennifer Lanzerotti & her husband, Anthony, and Patricia Layden & Jonathan Sanfilippo, by her adored step-daughter, Raychel Piserchia, her cherished nieces and nephews, Thomas, Katherine, Ryan, Natalie, Joseph, and Matthew and by her sweet furry niece, Fifi, and finally by each and every one of her loving cousins and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Thursday, April 18, 2023 at 10:30 AM- 12:45 PM.  Then to Sacred Heart Church, where at 1PM, a funeral mass will be offered.  Cremation private.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Barbara's memory to ColonCancerCoalition.org.  

Barb wanted to stress the importance for all those who are 45 years old or older to make your colonoscopy appointments.
