Obituary of Brian F. McCarthy

McCarthy, Brian F., 62, of Lyndhurst, died on Sunday, November 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  Brian was born in Newark, and lived his entire life in Lyndhurst.  He worked for Fabian Couture Group, LLC in Lyndhurst for over twenty years in their shipping and receiving department.  He enjoyed his job and working with his friends and colleagues he met there.  Brian was a true and loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, could always be seen sporting the team colors and apparel. Brian's favorite players growing up as a kid were Randy White, Drew Pearson and Roger Staubach.  Brian grew up like many of his generation on 70's Sitcoms.  His favorites were The Odd Couple, All in the Family, M*A*S*H, and Hogans Heros.  Brian also enjoyed 70s TV dramas such as the Streets of San Francisco, Hunter, Mod Squad, and Mission Impossible and enjoyed the ease of watching these reruns on streaming networks and DVDs and videos he collected.  Brian also enjoyed classic TV shows such as The Honeymooners and Seinfeld.  He loved listening to music especially Bachman Turner Overdrive, Queen, Eagles and Barry Manilow.  Brian also loved animals, especially the cats and dogs he grew up with when he was a kid.  Brian continued his love for animals and cats as an adult by adopting cats over time who needed a good and loving home, which Brian always provided.  He mostly loved his family, his parents, his siblings and their children.  He considered his nieces and nephews as his own children and his absence has left us heartbroken.   Brian is survived by his loving parents, Robert And Judy McCarthy (née Di Chiara), by his brothers and sister, Bobby McCarthy & his wife, Dorothy, Jayne Sylvestro & her husband, Robert, and Tim McCarthy & his wife, Jessica, by his dear nieces and nephews, Matthew, Kylie and Timmy McCarthy and Robbie and Corey Sylvestro and Ariana Toscano (née Sylvestro), by his grand niece and nephew, Winter and Anthony, by his aunt and uncle Pat and Frank Di Chiara and by his eight cousins and their families, especially his eternal cousin and friend Brian Haggerty ("Benny").  Brian was forever grateful for his friendship and support with Benny.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 1 - 4 PM.  A memorial service will begin at 3:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Brian's memory to Clara Maass Medical Center online by clicking here or ASPCA online by clicking here. You may express your condolences to Brian's family by using our tribute wall.
