Obituary of Peter J. De Luca
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Peter James DeLuca. Born in Kearny, NJ, on August 29, 1938, Peter lived a life defined by love, service, and dedication to his family and community.
Peter shared an extraordinary 65 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dolores DeLuca (nee Fernandez). Together, they raised six children: Peter James DeLuca III, and his wife Jacqueline, Dolores DeLuca-Mattos and her husband Kenny, Lynda DeLuca, Stephen DeLuca, and his partner Richard, Dina DeLuca-Farber and her husband Ken, and Michael DeLuca and his wife Karen. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to three, whose lives were enriched by his love and laughter.
A United States Marine Corps veteran, Peter exemplified honor and commitment in all he did. Following his military service, he worked as a truck driver and proud Teamster, providing for his family with hard work and integrity.
Peter and Dolores devoted many years to supporting the Lyndhurst Junior Wrestling Team, a cause close to their hearts, that developed many young athletes and lifelong friends. An active member of the American Legion, Peter was passionate about giving back, especially to programs that supported under privileged children.
An avid sportsman, Peter loved hunting with his club, golfing, horse racing and cheering on his favorite teams. His zest for life and dedication to his community will be remembered by all who knew him.
Peter is survived by one sister, four predeceased siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and an extended family who cherished him deeply. His legacy of love and service will live on through them and the many lives he touched.
