To My First Love, Dad
Words can’t describe the sadness in my heart and soul. All I have now are the beautiful memories we shared. As your firstborn—“the light of your eyes,” as you used to call me—I carry your love with me always.
I know you are watching over your two daughters and your five grandchildren, guiding us as you always did. The emptiness you left in so many lives is a testament to the impact you had on everyone who knew you.
We miss you more than words can express, Dad. It still feels unreal, but your love and legacy will live on in us forever.

Hi Everyone, my name is Isabella Reyes and I am the second grand daughter of William Polanco. My grandpa was an amazing person, I adored my grandfather. I never once wanted not to talk to him even though helI loved just being on the phone with him and listening to what he has to say because he was a knowledgeable man and knew so much. It hurts me to say he’s gone and I have to say I’ll never be able to talk to him on the phone and laugh with him, tell him how i’m doing well and school, or even just complain to him about something go on in my life. My grandpa means so much to me and he forever will. I know we all love my grandpa and I want everyone here grieving for him to remember not to be sad that he’s gone but to be happy he was in our lives, because of the impact he had on all of us. And now here is a letter to my grandpa.
Dear Papa, I can’t believe it that you’re gone. Who am i going to talk to about all the things going on in the world, who is going to be so happy about every little accomplishment i have, who’s going to make fun of me for not being able to speak proper spanish, now that you’re gone.
I want you to know that I love you and adore you and that this isn’t a good bye letter but it’s a see you later. I’ll forever do everything for you whether it’s me playing softball or me doing well on a test it is always going to be for you to continue making you smile. I hope you know the impact you had my life and how much I appreciate you and always will.

Q: What will you miss most about William?
A: My dear, beloved, uncle was a man of many words. So many in fact, that at times there’d be nothing left for us to say because he had said it all. His laugh would roar across a room but most importantly his vibrancy would illuminate all homes. He radiated with love for his family. Growing up in a family with not many stable men was difficult. However, tío William was THE man to pull his family together for birthday’s or for a sunny Saturday afternoon to sit at the park benches. I won’t go on for much longer because I could write an entire essay on how happy or even how angry he would make us! But, I’ll end on this note. God gave his children a date and time regardless of us being ready. We are limited with our time on earth to recognize we should love each other regardless of our differences, every day. Let us rejoice that tío has finally found his way home to God. We will love and miss you for the rest of our lifetimes. Rest in peace. Que viva el AMOR, que viva la PAZ, que viva la patria por la LIBERTAD ❤️.
