Edwards, William H. "Bill", 94, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. Mr. Edwards was born in Moosic, PA, lived in East Rutherford and Lyndhurst and has been a resident of Butler for over 10 years. William was a highly decorated World War II Veteran, serving in the US Army as a PFC Infantry 1st Class Gunner from 1939 to 1945. He often spoke of memories of his time served in Panama, Scotland and Germany, where he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his bravery. As a Chef , he worked at The Whitehouse Restaurant of East Rutherford for many years. William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace (nee Rosa) Edwards in 1977 and by his siblings, Tommy, Isabelle, Charles, Leonard, Margaret and Arthur. He is survived by his loving children, William Edwards and his wife, Rose, Sharon Edwards and John Edwards, by his devoted grandchildren, Donna Austin, Michael, Matthew, William and John James Edwards, by his dear great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Tyler, Carly, Jayden, Evan and Leann, by his sister, Anna Brabyak and his brother, Robert Edwards. He is also survived by his long-time companion, Marion Brennan, her daughter, Patricia Brigliadoro and her husband, Ron and their two children, Megan and Matthew. William most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to cook, bake, work in the garden, listen to music from the Big Band Era, watching various British TV comedies and reminiscing about his service in Panama. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 9 AM then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 10 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to The American Cancer Society, 20 Mercer Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601
