Obituary of Rudolph V. Fisher
Please share a memory of Rudolph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fisher, Rudolph V., Rudy, beloved husband of Jane R. Fisher and long time resident of Wayne, NJ died on May 5, 2014. He was 86 yrs old. Rudy was born the 4th of 7 children in Kent, O, to Rose Marie (Secola) and John L. Fisher. The boy rich family--there was only one daughter--subsequently established a home in Lyndhurst, NJ. At the age of 16, he ventured to Arizona, where he found lodging with a rancher and learned to ride and care for horses. Several years later, Rudy returned to Lyndhurst, eventually settling into a maintenance job at Scandia Packaging Machinery Co. of Clifton in 1950, and gradually working up the ranks to become a repair technician, traveling throughout the country to patiently troubleshoot and repair the complicated packaging equipment sold to their fortune 500 clientele. As an owner of Bearcat Archery of E. Rutherford, Rudy worked evenings and weekends,. teaching families and individuals the techniques of the bow and arrow. He was an active member of the state & national archery association, as well as a member of the Wo-Pe-Na Archery Club of Clifton. Upon retirement, after 49 years at Scandia, Rudy turned to artisanal wine making. Learning the basics from his good friend, he applied the same engineering skills to his winemaking efforts. He kept detailed records and critiqued his product at the end. Rudy eventually made additive free wine that was much prized by family and friends. His wine, especially the syrahs and cabernets will be sorely missed. Rudy will be remembered for his love of family, his soft heart, and the loving interest he showed to the younger generations in the family; the nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Those who stayed close to home will miss his fatherly concern, his political updates, and his willingness to be the brunt of their affectionate teasing. Rudolph is predeceased by his siblings, Mary Harris, Joseph, Anthony, Dante and Michael Fisher. He is survived by his wife, Jane R. Fisher, by his brother, John Fisher and by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 9AM, then to Sacred Heart Church where at 10AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment St. Josephs Cemetery, Lyndhurst. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
