Czarnecki, John J. "Capt. John", 81, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Mr. Czarnecki was born in and was a life long resident of Lyndhurst. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean War 1953-1955. During high school, he was captain of the baseball and basketball teams and was considered one of the best fastball softball pitchers in Bergen County. "Capt. John" played professional baseball for the Milwaukee Braves in the early 50's. He worked as an Iron Worker for 25 years to follow and more recently as a Crossing Guard for Lyndhurst Board of Education. John also was a member of the Amvets Post #20 and Columbus Club both of Lyndhurst. He was involved with Lyndhurst Little League Baseball in the 1970's. He was inducted in the Lyndhurst High School Sports Hall of Fame and the Bergen County Sports Hall of Fame. John is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores (nee Agrillo) Czarnecki, loving son, John Czarnecki & his wife, Dora of Lyndhurst, his daughters, Cheryl Czellecz & her husband, Darrin of Galloway, and Donna Czarnecki & her Fiance, Robert Gempp, by his dear grandchildren, Jessica Czarnecki, P.J. Miller, Darrin Czellecz and Melissa Gempp. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service held at the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 6:30PM. Cremation private. Visiting hours Friday 4-7PM. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis TN 38148-0142
