Telese, Gaetana (nee DeSiato), 81, died peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Mrs. Telese was born to Gaetano and Maria and raised in a small town in Italy. She was one of 8 children including 5 sisters and 2 brothers. In 1958, she met her future husband, Francesco. They married a year later in 1959. In 1962, they welcomed their twins and then immigrated to Newark in 1963. The family bought a house in Lyndhurst in 1989 and has lived there ever since. They built a beautiful family and life together. During WWII, times were hard for her family but her mother helped to get food for her family by writing letters for those who didnt know how to write. As a child in Italy, she loved hiking in the mountains and travelling with her brothers around Italy to places likes Pompeii. She also worked in the fields picking potatoes, grapes, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables. She was at times a bit mischievous. She often told stories about playing tricks on her father like when her and her sisters sampled liquor from his bottles and replaced it with water hoping that he wouldnt notice. As she got older, she learned how to sew and became a Master Seamstress. She was a Seamstress for Fiduccia Shirts, Carlstadt, for 22 years before retiring in 2009. She loved her job and often got hugs from the football and basketball players for whom she made custom shirts. She also enjoyed making dresses for her friends. Gaetana was always a happy and fun person and enjoyed making jokes. Her children recall that on her 20+ trips back to Italy, she would gather with her sisters and laugh all day. She called them almost daily. She was kind and beautiful with striking blue eyes. Gaetana loved to go to the park with her children and especially liked her occasional trips to casinos in Atlantic City and Pa. She also enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets. Gaetana is predeceased by her beloved husband, Francesco in 2004. She is survived by her loving children, Josephine and Luigi Telese, Luigis dear girlfriend, Judy Rizzo and her sisters in Italy, Raffaela Di Nuzzo and Michellina Bernardo.
