Obituary of Gladys G. Volpe

Volpe, Gladys (nee Klimek), 92, of Lyndhurst, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Mrs. Volpe was born in Newark, raised in Maplewood and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for the over 6o years. During WWII, Gladys was a stenographer for OPA and volunteered as a Nurse's Aide at Columbus Hospital in Newark. She was a Comptroller & Bookkeeper for Friedman, Kates, Pearlman & Fitzgerald in Rutherford for over 50 years. She played the violin with The Orchestra at Everyman's Bible Club of Rutherford and loved to crochet afghans for many of her friends. Gladys is predeceased by her beloved husband, Francis A. Volpe in 2013. She is survived by her loving children, Francine A. Castro & her husband, Pedro, Frank A. Volpe, Gail Marie Volpe and James R. Volpe & his wife, Debra, by her four dear grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her sister, Janette French and by her beloved cat, Betty. Gladys was a selfless soul, a generous and devoted mother and friend to all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 10AM then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where at 11AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visiting hours Monday 9 - 11 AM. Donations can be made in Glady's memory to FOCAS P.O. Box 439, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604-0439. .
