Lashendock, Jr., Joseph M., 79, of Montague, died on December 11, 2016. Mr. Lashendock was born in Ashland, PA, raised in Lyndhurst, lived 7 years in Jefferson, ME and has been a resident of Montague, NJ for 26 years. He worked with International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local 17, Cleveland OH. Joseph had been very active in his community of Montague, elected as Committee Member 2005-2007 and became Deputy Mayor in 2007, along with working in the Recycling department until January of 2016. He also was actively helping in The Fight Against Hunger program running food drives benefiting the Division of Social Service food pantry and was the Vice Chairperson for the Transit Citizens Advisory Committee, Skylands Ride, which provided transit services for senior citizens, people with disabilities and the general public, both of Sussex County. In 2013, he was awarded Sussex County Senior Citizen of the Year, honored with Congressional Recognition for his outstanding service to the community. Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph M. Lashendock, III and by many nieces and nephews and extended family. Relatives and friends invited to attend the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 9AM then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where at 10 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Cremation Private. Visiting hours Wednesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9PM.
