Garbarini, Philip P., 94, Of Nutley, died on Saturday, December 31, 2016. Mr. Garbarini was born and raised in Hoboken, attended Newark College of Engineering for one year, before enlisting into the Marine Corp. He served during WWII (1943-1946) in the pacific arena, as a Scout/Mapmaker. Wounded during one of his recon missions, he recovered and again returned to the front line. He was a member of the Intelligence Dept. Philip played violin and would entertain the troops between campaigns. He was a Mechanical and Design Engineer for PSE&G of Newark for many years, retiring in 1989. During his career, he and a colleague were the inventors of the first PSE&G patent. He was a member of the VFW, Secaucus #3776 and Lyndhurst Unico. In his retirement, Philip enjoyed traveling with his wife, Catherine and spending time with their family. He is predeceased by his parents, Louis & Virgina (nee scala) Garbarini and brother, Joseph Garbarini. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Catherine (nee Fedkenheuer), by his loving daughters, Gail Visone and Janet Fiume & her husband, Mark, by his dear grandchildren, Lance Visone & his wife, Becca and Evan Visone & his wife, Andrijana and David Fiume, by four great-grandchildren and one on the way. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral held on Friday, January 6, 2017 gathering at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst at 9AM then to St. John's Lutheran Church, 155 North Street, Jersey City for a 10:30AM Funeral Service. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visiting hours will be Thursday 4 - 8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Philip's memory to St. John's Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund.
