Burns, Jr., David W., 78, of Lyndhurst, passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Mr. Burns was born and raised in Jersey City, moving to Lyndhurst with his parents, Angelina (nee Giordano) and David W. Burns, Sr., in 1960. David was an amateur radio operator which served him well in the military. He joined the US Army in 1968 and his job was to intercept messages from the enemy. During this time, he discovered a Russian Outpost that had not been known to the United States. Once home, David worked in maintenance for Brunson Instuments and Matchbox Cars, both of Carlstadt. David was also very active in his community in many other ways: he was an EMT for Carlstadt Ambulance Corp for 25 years, Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 1 in Carlstadt, boys and girls soccar coach in Lyndhurst, active PTA member of Lyndhurst High School and a Hamradio Operator. He was also very active in his faith, as he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Men's Club of Bloomfield as well as St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Lyndhurst. David is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara R. (nee Hogund) Burns, by his loving children, Timothy Burns and Holly Hergenhan and her husband, Todd, by his dear grandchildren, Gillian Burns, Alexa and Kendra Hergenhan, and Erika, Brooke, and Karliann Blumenfeld, by his brother, Kenneth Burns and his sister-in-law, Ann Hoglund.

Private cremation under the direction of Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ. Donations can be in David's memory to Carlstadt Ambulance Corp., P.O. Box 84, Carlstadt NJ or to St. John's Lutheran Church, Liberty Street and Austin Place, Bloomfield NJ 07003.  Please express your condolences to the Burns family by using our Tribute Wall.  A Memorial Service and commital will be held at a future date.
