I had the opportunity to find out we were related and got to know each other under very odd circumstances. Anna May was a cousin of my step grandmother's. Our families both resided in Lyndhurst and the funeral home she came home to was the one my entire family has used for almost 100 years....perhaps longer.....the Guidas, Fratterolas and Lobos.....may she rest in peace. Remarkably we became friends in Bluffton SC. Never having known eachother before, we socialized with the same friends and lived a few streets from each other in Rose Hill Plantati in Bluffton. We met at a party....exchanged areas we came from in NJ and found we were related. Ahhhh no one in the world is as close as NJ people.

Dear Joseph,
I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiful auntie Anna May. I know how close the two of you were, and that this is a difficult time for you...Please know that you have my support and sympathy.
I know that Aunt meant the world to you; and those memories are treasures that you will always hold dear.
I never met your aunt, but I remember all of the times you spoke of her. You have told so many sweet and funny stories of her and your mom and grandma; I felt like I knew her.
I know she had a profound effect on your life. It’s easy to tell that she was a woman of utmost class and dignity. This is especially true because of the way you turned out..a true gentleman. My condolences to Jeffrey also.. I know that you will miss her greatly.
Fondly,
Kim Boghossian and Family

Heaven can't wait.
After gallant fight after fight, God called Anna May home to be with her family.
While she probably suffered, you would never know it from her positive attitude & love for all her knew her.
She was like glue holding the Cifune family together through many trials.
To me, she was my genealogy compatriot. We shared much of our family notes & research. She not only had the research documents, she also knew the personal traditions and stories that brought the descendants to life. We often laughed about Nicola (III) DeFrino our great grand-father who was married three times and left an interesting trail behind.
Our Ga. family will miss your wisdom. The DeFrino cousins thank you for your inspiration.

We are so saddened to hear Anna May is gone. She has been a friend to our family and wonderfully caring to our granddaughter, Natalie, who is 4. She and Natalie video chatted recently, and even not feeling well, Anna May was interested in what Natalie was doing and learning.
Our deepest sympathy to Herman and the rest of Anna May’s family. Gosh, we will miss her. We feel lucky to have known her.

Dearest Uncle Herman,When my neighbor in Real Estate&Communicant of Queen of Peace just told me about Anna May,I was shocked for we had spoken over Christmas. She had told me how Her Nephew from RI was there to take her to treatments yet seemed to say it was in remission and not to worry. I thank You for the nice times we had together and Your Beautiful Wedding.
Anna May and I shared a special bond;and I will miss Her a lot. I am happy that You had the time together. So very sorry for Your Loss. Love,Nancy&Joe George

To The Cifune & Seeger Family ...
Please accept my heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and sympathy on your great loss. My family & I have been neighbors of the Cifune Family for over 60 years. But it wasn’t until the last 10 years or so that Anna May & I grew closer as neighbors & became good friends. I came to know that she had a huge & caring heart, and that she was always there to lend some advice, a helping hand, or just to bring over some dinner that she had just cooked..always doing what she thought was God’s Plan ! Everything that’s been written here about her on her Tribute Wall is “ exactly” who she grew to be along her life’s journey. Always trying to be positive, bring people together, and always moving forward towards the things that were so very important to her...her love of her Faith & God, her Family, all of her students, her friends, and of course Herman. Life was often not kind to Anna May...and her journey was a long road of consoling & caretaking .. but it was always met head on with kindness, love, patience, and commitment...even when she was fighting her own personal battles !! She was a good long time neighbor & a good & caring friend. And because of “ who “ she really was on this planet we call earth ...& her journey here...I know without hesitation that God most certainly sent down his “ Best Angels “ to take her home. Rest easy now Anna May...and I know that you will be watching down over all of us ...and wherever your loving spirit is now ..may it truly know just how much you will be missed ....

Rest in peace Auntie. We’ll miss you.
She was the last of the four siblings, all of whom fought valiantly through their own ailments to achieve perfection.
I hope we all inherited that fighting spirit.

It is with HEAVY heart that I wish my Aunt Anna May a peaceful rest after her ongoing fight against cancer.
Aunt Anna May fought tirelessly for years as cancer started it's never ending assault and devastation on her body. Her cancer gone, only to return time after time. Regardless, while cancer won the fight against her body it never controlled her mind. Till the very last day Aunt Anna May remained sharp as a tack and always challenging. Always pushing forward, never accepting defeat and always in control.
Aunt Anna May and I had a bond far stronger than most Aunts and Nephews ever do. Aunt Anna May and I shared the same birthday so from the start it was far closer than can ever be hoped for. I remember as I was growing up sitting around Nana's kitchen table. Anna May would recall how she had said to Nana that Rosemarie had given her the best birthday present ever. To which Nana replied "But I gave you roses". A chuckle would always follow by whoever might have been present when ever the story was shared.
Aunt Anna May would always be teaching something someway and always be available to me. While Aunt Anna May held the family member position of Aunt, to me she also held a position very close to that of Mother. It may sound strange but in order to understand fully you would have had to know Anna May.
Aunt Anna May, thank you for being part of all of our lives, thank you for being part of my life and allowing me to be part of yours. Your memories, as you, will never be forgotten, chuckles, now tears and many wonderful memories will always remain part of my life.
Rest In Peace Aunt, you TRULY will be missed, give everyone a big hug for me too.
With Love,
Joseph

Rest peacefully dear Aunt Anna May. Your service here on earth is done. You cared for all of those that went before you with love, compassion and dignity. I was so hoping you could have more time to finally relax in South Carolina! It just wasn’t meant to be.
You and I had a special bond! Your only niece and your name sake, I always felt so very close to you even though we were so far apart! We thought alike, laughed at the same things and enjoyed common ground on so many things in this world! Strong to the core, you fought each bout of cancer with determination and grace. I’m not really sure I ever heard you complain. My warrior!
I will miss you dearly. Our chats, FaceTimes, your poems, and your love of life will remain in memories of you always! Give everyone a hug and kiss for me!
Love you always Aunt Anna May!
Your loving niece,
DeAnna Cifune Kamphuis
